First off, who the hell put the soy milk in the eph's water bottles again? This game was very one sided, and half their offense didn't even try to dodge hard on any of their matchups.
Ryan Johnson who is usually their game breaking middie didn't even try to take it to the rack himself once, and was WAY too eager to pass out of his matchup. None of the other middies were able to beat Zack Goorno or Colin Campbell (both are stallions), and RJ was the guy who should've been able to beat his man. I'd understand if he dodged hard a few times and got absolutely clamped, but this is different, and he is a guy who has the athleticism, build, and skill to make a huge juice play, and trust me, they really needed that. Williams attack just kept turning the ball over, Cal Caputo had a nice ride to goal in the first to put the ephs on the board but these guys not only were facing a nailgun in Robert Hobbs who was playing like he put tiger balm on his tip, but also were getting dominated at the faceoff dot.
Defensively, William's biggest weakness was their off ball play. Bowdoin found a ton of openings off crisp ball movement, most goals were quick sticks to the back of the net. Matt Ward had a beauty of a goal to start it off, breaking his mans ankles and going top shelf. I could even see wet spots forming on the bleachers where the Williams moms sat after that one. Sam Raye Steiner and Will Lesko had great games, and it was an all around pleasure to watch the dirty pbears get after it.
However, gotta give Williams credit where credit is due, Patrick Gaul put the clamps on Will Byrne. Will is the best offensive player in the nescac by a solid margin, and was held without a point up until halfway in the third. He scored twice, once on an unsettled attempt (Gaul wasn't on him and it was a gb), and once when being covered by an NPC after the goalie came out of the net. He also got one assist, not off the dodge though. I think Patrick Gaul should be in consideration for D3 All American status based off his performance against who for my money, is the best offensive player in not just the nescac but all of D3.
Trinity feasted on Colby, and almost everybody ate. Trinity's stock has been rising ever since beating Wesleyan and I think their best lacrosse is ahead of them this season. Bo Page, Tyler DeSimone, Matt Pecora, Jay Ottomanelli, all of them played a part in this dub against Colby. Great team win for the lads, Colby women's hockey and all the birds University of New England will be waiting for them tonight.
