After getting kicked out of the hotel room because my girlfriend Alyssa walked in on me getting dome from the hot cleaning lady at our hotel in Cabo, I took a walk and realized that I should probably update y'all on the Nescac.
Bowdoin looked pretty good except they lost to Endicott. It's still the first few games, so maybe they'll mimic Duke and drop a game or two to some bums, but ball out against legit teams. Not dissing Endicott, but Bowdoin ran a train on them last year, and this should've been a shoe in for the polar bears. They should beat Conn Coll but after this loss to Endicott it might have rocked their confidence. Freshman defenseman Jack Pyne is a revelation, and Sam Raye Steiner is back which means more highlight reel plays could be pooping up. Will Byrne is taking more of a distributive role, and this should be an electric season. Colin Campbell has been getting more burn because he's been going monk, and that is great to see.
Tufts and Wesleyan are undefeated, and they can probably have a good chance at winning. Tufts only had one legit opponent in CNU, but other then that, Max Ettinghausen and Jack Regnery just dragged their nuts over Trinity and Conn, which are about as mid as Taylor Swift. So compared to Bowdoin, Tufts hasn't been as tested, and might choke againt some legit teams.
Wesleyan has a 4-0 record, but aside from Colby (basically a high school team), they had no nescac competition, and they had no legit competition either. Stockton, Colby, Salve Regina and Roanoke. I'd be concerned if they weren't dropping 20+ genos in those games, and all I can say is this must be good for those guys who aren't starting. Jack Raba is balling out, and James Bailey is starting to step it up. I want to see more from him because it makes me feel better about clamping his ass in mens league.
Williams has been tested against Babson and Union, but inconsistency is their weakness, and strikingly similar to last year. They almost lost to Bates. But they beat Babson, and lost to Union by 1. Babson and Union are legit. But winning against Bates by 1 should light a fire under the ass of the purple cows. The Jersey to williams pipeline runs deep, as most of their leading scorers, and their best player are from dirty jerz, shoutout RJ, Calvin Caputo, Will Doran, and Cade Shuckman. Don't disappoint me gentleman.
Middlebury is all Patrick Jamin, Billy curtis and Russell Thorndike. Pat Jamin is a beast on both sides of the ball, but he's shouldering more offensive responsibility than before. JD farkas and Cooper Demallie can both play, but Ol' Coop hasn't been doing as well as I thought he would. They beat Amherst, which is good, but lost to Bowdoin (no surprise), and then to Babson and RPI. Either Babson is really turning it up this year, or Midd just can't figure it out. However, good news is that Henry the tank Tarr is back. That guy is built like a meatball and what every LSM under 6'0 should aspire to look like.
Amherst lost to Midd, but turned up against Swat, Springfield and Hamilton. Now we know that Hamilton is gonna get shafted by decent NESCAC teams, so no further explanation on them. They did lose to MIdd, but Swat is legit, and Springfield is mediocre. Who knows what will happen down the road, but if Bob Gross facilitates more, Amherst can do well. Long islander Brendan Rielly is showing out so far, leading them in points.
Hamilton: They suck against good teams, but do well against the really bad ones. I would talk about whose productive and whose not but its not gonna matter because they won't make playoffs. For the amount of quality birds at the school, these guys do not play like it. Maybe going monk mode could good for them, and we'll see them get a W against some ballers.
Bates and Colby: The day you beat a legit team is the day I become vegan and open up my relationship. Maybe scrimmage Beloit for some worthy competition and use some zyn instead of Nicoderm.
Trinity: For a team with d1 transfers, all that did was prove how good the play in the Nescac really was. Logan Mueller (rutgers transfer) started every game, but was pretty quiet on the stat sheet until playing some dust team like WestConn. If a guy who got reps against some of the best players in d1 isn't a difference maker in the 'Cacs, then that just shows us not to sleep on the 'Cacs. Good to see Rory McAloon and Andrew Bailey playing solid, but Jack Pyne did assert his dominance over him all game long.
Conn: Ricky Skalaski should get more playing time, he's a beauty.
I'll make my way back to the hotel and hope Alyssa will do her job this time so I don't need use the cleaning lady again.
Cheers,
