Ford's Nescac Week 1 writeup

Great weekend for the Nescac sector of the firm.  I was on my yacht getting a blowie from Naomi when watching the games this weekend and I gotta say, there were some real surprises and some great games.  The Nescac is the greatest conference in D3, and after this weekend of lacrosse, I do think that the Nescac is being made great again and Trumps America is changing the conference for the better based on what I’ve seen.

First of, goddamn Bates.  I expected Hamilton to be one of the best teams in the Nescac and potential dark horse in this conference down the line, but Bates has really surprised me so far.  They didn’t just beat Hamilton, they ran a complete train on those guys.  They were putting their third stringers in.  Bates is usually the team on the other end of the stick, getting absolutely gaped and having the guys who care more about drinking beers and tugging the rope than making it to the show end up getting subbed in.

Bates, hat’s off to you guys.  Hamilton kept almost everyone from last year, and was actually supposed to be better because Jaime Wylde was finally healthy and he is one of the best LSM’s in the conference.  But I think Coach Dan Annino realized that he should let the guys get some pre-game muff and put some bag in their waters to get the boys going, and those results paid dividends for the Bobcats.  This might be the first 3-0 start they’ve had in years, but they should get a solid test against Williams next weekend.

Amherst thundercunted Midd this year, and I can’t say I didn’t see this one coming.  I had those guys at number 2 for a reason, and all the guys that they had last year, plus a few freshmen I mentioned, contributed in that game.  As u said before, Midd lost so much talent from last year, this won’t be a great season for them.

Nailgun out of New Jersey Willie Doyle had 2 apples on 0 genos, showing he is a man built for others.  Bob Gross got 3 genos, 1 apple and Bennett Chow had the elite stat line of 4 goals, 0 assist.  Fucking rights boys.  Lawson Laverty and Luciano Chadha anchored them down on defense, and Thompson Lau is the best LSM in D3 by a country mile.  Great showing by the mammoths.

Tufts beating Conn, and Wesleyan doubling up Colby, was expected.  Conn and Colby aren’t great, and Tufts is likely to win another national championship this year.  Wesleyan lost some talent from last year, but should still be competitive in the conference tournament.

Williams had a good low scoring game against Babson.  Gavin Timoney got some burn, and scored, and Ryan Johnson did too.  Williams’ New Jersey squad is as strong as ever, with D mid Matt Johnson scoring the coup de gras in that Babson game.  They play Union Wednesday, and if they win, that will be a good look for them.  Too early to tell what the case will be with these guys.

Bowdoin and Trinity was definitely the best game of the weekend.  Without the guys from last year, this is a totally different Bowdoin team.  Bo, “Jordan Belfort” Page is still the best offensive player for the Bants, with a sick 6 points on the day.  Him and Miles Harvey who is a beast at the midfield are the future of this team.  They honestly could’ve won this game, and it was so close, I can’t really say how good either of these guys would be against the rest of the nescac teams.  I ranked them towards the middle, and I’ll stand on that for a while because Bowdoin doesn’t seem to have any real tests for a while besides Amherst (the endicott loss was a complete fluke last year) but Trinity faces Tufts which might be a good game.

Cheers,

Ford
